Rural Spain Properties

RURAL PROPERTY VALUES

photoThe Spanish property boom has been well documented with values having enjoyed substantial growth over the last few years. Most non-Spanish buyers have invested heavily on the southern coast, which recently has been showing signs of a major slowdown.
People seeking better value with more attractive surroundings and a more Spanish enviroment have been moving further and further inland.

This is one of the reasons why property values in northern and inland Spain have been enjoying good growth and have become attractive investments. Other critical reasons for this growth are:

  • The opening of provincial airports to low cost airlines;
  • Continually improving infrastructure;
  • The economic boom currently enjoyed in many Spanish regional and provincial capitals;
  • Local government investment to improve and promote rural tourism;
  • The inherent natural beauty, food and culture of northern and inland Spain itself, till recently a well-kept secret.

Some inland and northen regions of Spain already have areas where values are comparable to the Northern European property market. Generally, proximity to regional or provincial capitals leads to higher prices. However, even within these regions, and especially in more remote areas, charming and competitively priced properties are still available.
