RAIL NETWORK IN SPAIN

photoClean, comfortable, on time and affordable is the best way to describe the Spanish train service.

If that wasn’t already good enough, the network is currently enjoying huge investment in modernisation and expansion. The Spanish government has allocated €41 billion for the construction of new rail infrastructures before the end of 2007 and has pledged to ensure that all provincial cities are less than four hours travelling time from Madrid, and six-and-a-half hours from Barcelona.

High speed train lines are set to dissect the country over the next five years, cutting travel times massively.

The Barcelona – Madrid high speed train link is sue to be completed by 2008. The line will include stops in Zaragoza and Guadalajara.

Other high speed lines at various stages of development include links to Madrid from the following cities: Valencia, Valladolid, Alicante, Murcia, Cuenca, Caceres, Badajoz, La Coruña, Santiago de la Compostella, Vigo, Segovia and León.

The existing Madrid - Seville high-speed line is having its rolling stock upgraded to ultra-modern trains.
